Camby & Scott ~ Engagement

RLP caught up with Camby & Scott on 04/12/13 in Snohomish for a fantastic Engagement Session!  They met about 3 years ago at Scott’s mom’s house (I think it was a ‘set up’) & they’ve been going strong ever since.  Camby is a hair dresser studying to be a Radiology Tech & Scott is a Personal Trainer.  I was heart broken to hear that we’re not going to shoot their Wedding since these guys have opted to go with the ‘Cruise Wedding’ instead of staying local (I offered to stow away on the boat to shoot the Wedding, but they took a pass!).  They have 2 dogs (pugs), Rocko & Reggie, they love Italian food and their favorite song is Anthony Hamilton, ‘Point of It All’ (I just checked it out on Spotify – smooth tune!).  Our day in Snohomish was awesome – the river, the antique store, the alley – you just can’t go wrong in Snohomish!  Congrats again Camby & Scott – Bon Voyage!

    Denise & Daniel ~ Wedding

Denise & Daniel tied the knot with a beautiful NW flare on 04/06/13 in Mount Vernon.  The church (First Christian Reform Church) was stunning, and beautiful floral arrangements courtesy Geri Smeek really brought the inside of the church to life.  The rain was on & off during the day (mostly on) – so Jenn & I made that work and had a blast!  Denise looked so elegant in her beautiful lace dress (courtesy of David’s Bridal)  and Daniel cleaned up nicely in his black tux!  The boutonnieres and bouquets (from Enchanted Florists in Mount Vernon) gave everyone that perfect splash of color.  Love the shots we did at the park (check out my ‘we’re late for the Wedding shot’ & Jenn’s ‘rain shot’ – she nailed it!)  Denise & Daniel are so in love (she’s a teacher & he’s a truck driver studying to be a software designer)  and you can really see that in these photos!  Pastor John Knoester officiated a moving ceremony, Harold Iverson served graciously (& very humorously) as MC over the reception & thanks to Xtra Special Cakes for their yummy contribution!  So congrats to our happy couple & here’s wishing you both many years of happiness from RLP!

      A New Name, A New Beginning . . . .

As many of you may have noticed, we are ‘Valley Portrait’ no more! Our work has evolved to a very different place than the one we started in and we felt it was time for a fresh look & a new name to reflect where we are today! ‘Rose’ is my daughter’s middle name & ‘Lily’ is Jenn’s oldest daughter’s first name (& we just thought is sounded great)!  I wanted to wait to make this post until our new site was totally up & running. For all of you who knew us as ‘Valley Portrait’, we look forward to working with you for many years to come as Rose-Lily! The name has changed, but the high quality of our work has not, and Jenn & I are still at the heart of it all with our Nikons firing away!

        Barbie & Colin ~ Engagement

I met up with Barbie & Colin last Saturday, March 30th, at Volunteer Park in Seattle.  We shot this fantastic Engagement Session on what was undeniably the most beautiful day so far this year.  With the Seattle Asian Art Museum and the park as a backgrounds,  it was kind of hard to go wrong!  We moved down to Broadway in Capital Hill (I lived there for 3 years & really miss it!) & meandered about grabbing cool urban environmentals.  I asked Barbie to talk about the story of her & Collin for this post (& I asked her to thrown in their favorite tune & eats) – & here’s what she wrote:

“We have known each other 5.5 years. We met when I was his tour guide in Japan. It was a 2 week backpacking tour. When I first met him I couldn’t understand a word he said, he mumbled, spoke softly and had the accent.  When he first saw me it was love at first sight. We spent the first four years together Skyping multiple times a day and taking turns visiting each other every 3-6 months. He knew I had never been to many European cities & would take me on romantic trips to Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Belfast, Scotland and all over Ireland.  I’m a RN, Col is a software tester.  We are so different from each other in every way, they say opposites attract… I always had crazy ideas for things I wanted to do but wanted someone to do them with and he always wanted to do crazy things but needed a director.  Our fave song together must be ‘Such Great Heights’ by the Postal Service. Fave food together as a couple is ‘Village Pizza’ in Anacortes – best pizza out there!”

What an awesome day making pictures for one of the nicest couple on the planet – see you guys in June at the Wild Rose in Arlington to tie the knot!
